Everything you need to know about Grayscale

Converts your image to grayscale using mathematically correct, gamma-aware Rec. 709 luminance. The image is decoded from sRGB to linear light, luminance is computed with perceptual weights (R 0.2126, G 0.7152, B 0.0722), and the result is re-encoded to sRGB.

When to Use

  • Grayscale — Pure, mathematically accurate conversion. No tonal shaping. One click.
  • Monochrome — If you want a “photographic” black & white with midtone lift, highlight protection, and film contrast, use Monochrome instead.
